In 2021, when our newborn son came into our lives, everything changed. As a pilot by profession, I was used to navigating the skies, but nothing prepared me for the overwhelming responsibility of caring for this tiny, fragile being. My wife and I poured all our energy into ensuring he was healthy, comfortable, and safe. Every milestone brought joy—dressing him in tiny outfits, watching him grow—but with each new size came the guilt of buying clothes he would soon outgrow, knowing they would only add to the piles of waste plaguing our planet.

As a new father and someone who spent years in an industry that, regardless all the sustainability efforts made on a daily basis, it often felt we can not, but should do much more, I began asking myself ´”Can I singlehandedly do more through any other channels? What would it take to buy baby clothes without hesitation, knowing that every choice we made was responsible, and the best we could?” Aviation taught me to love checklist, and the one for the children clothings read as follows:

It should not contribute to the growing waste that will sit in landfills for decades. Instead, it should be plastic free, organic, or upcycled.

It should not be just another mass-produced item, but a beautifully crafted, authentic product of the highest quality.

It should not exploit the hands that bring the designs to life but should ensure ethical production that values people as much as the planet.

It should not claim sustainability without transparency. True sustainability comes with openness—about sourcing, about production, even about costs.

For the first time, it dawned on me: Why not create a genuinely sustainable brand of our own? A brand that families, like mine and yours, can rely on to be as gentle on our babies' skin as on our planet, ethically produced, transparent, and thus, your new standard of genuinely sustainable children fashion.

In an instant, BABICLO came into existence, bridging the realms of earth and sky, Spain and the UAE, with a purpose to contribute towards the future of little ones and the planet they will inherit.
