Transparency Report

We are proud to be transparent with you and offer honest information on our efforts towards ethical and conscious fashion. In the sea of greenwashing, we strive to be the island to harbour the highest standards of sustainability and be fully transparent about it. With that in mind, we will be disclosing the factories we work with, the reason for our selection, fabrics origin and certification available, and ultimately the production cost. We promised to become “Your new standard in sustainable children clothing”. With no unified definition of sustainability, it is easy to limit it to recycled materials, or any other isolated aspect of it. Following extensive research, we are focusing on multiple efforts which turned out to align most with our values and priorities - and actually lifting the “sustainability” bar along the way:

Circular Designs

Premium & Long-lasting

We strive to provide products of the greatest quality that can be used repeatedly and passed down, enabling us to become as circular as possible.

Timeless Designs

Within our unique business model mean that our styles and prints roll over from season to season, year to year, thus encouraging a slower, more mindful approach to children fashion and shopping.

No End of Season Sales

Discouraging the mentality of "out with the old, in with the new". There are no trends, no “this season” colours or prints. You will just love them forever.

Gender-neutral Designs

Regardless of gender, our pieces can be passed down and enjoyed equally by every single little human.

Responsibly Sourced

Babiclo babywear and children clothing only uses ethically sourced and certified organic cotton, organic merino wool, organic silk and Lenzing TENCEL™ Lyocell in our fabric blends. All these fabrics are 100% biodegradable, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, and all organic cotton GOTS certified. We chose not to use virgin or even recycled polyester mixed fabrics as the process to separate polyester mixed fabrics takes too much effort and requires too many chemicals.

Instead of just stating the obvious like many ´sustainable´ brands ¨we as well as the industry have a long way to go¨, we are being specific about the current projects and improvements we are working on, regularly updated under Improvements WIP

Ethically Made

Given that our pieces include both woven and knitted baby and children swear – gowns, bodysuits, rompers, sweaters, and finally beachwear, we are working with a number of factories that specialise in the styles we produce, and are also encompassing sustainability efforts. Each piece will contain information about their own production specificities.

Prior to selecting the production partners, we scouted dozens of factories in Portugal, observing the production and the workers with our own eyes, inquiring about origin of yarns and traceability, and other factory practices making sure the production is taking place in a community that values the well-being of its employees and ensures fair trade and safe working conditions.

Our current production partner is SMETA certified – compliant with the standards of labour, health and safety, environmental performance and ethics. (SMETA – Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit)

Pricing Transparency

We promised to become your you standard in sustainable children clothing. One of the inherent aspects of it is supply chain transparency as well as transparent pricing. To better grasp the value of the items you purchase, you should be be aware of what you are paying for. We want to offer high-quality, ethically created apparel that feels comfortable and looks wonderful while being as reasonably priced as possible. You'll notice that the true cost of our goods is frequently higher than the final retail price of fast fashion items. Truly sustainable and ethical production is never cheap. However, we have a markup that is lower than the industry norm in order to keep our retail price at a level that is sustainable (please refer to each product price breakdown).Learn more on our informational page explaining the overall concept of our retail prices Pricing Transparency.

Non-Toxic Certified

All of our clothing is OKEO-TEX 100 certified, assuring that every part of the item—including the fabric, thread, and accessories—has undergone thorough testing for up to 350 dangerous chemicals. As a result, you can rest easy knowing that our babies and children's clothing contains NO TRACES of chemicals or harmful toxins. All clothing can be certified, independent of the fabric (organic cotton, wool, TENCEL, Carvico VITA etc.). While this certification related to fabrics processing (including dying and finishing), the way it is grown it is certified by GOTS certified meaning that textile and products are grown in line with the strict ecological and taxological guidelines, i.e. free of synthetics fertilizers and pesticides. All our organic cotton and merino wool is GOTS certified. For semi-synthetic fabrics such as TENCEL™ - by using lyocell of TENCEL™ brand we ensure lyocell fibres are extracted from sustainably grown wood using a unique closed loop system which recovers and reuses the solvents used thus minimizing the environmental impact of the production.

Zero-waste Packaging

We are dedicated to eliminating waste throughout our supply chain. Each order is packaged in a lovely reusable organic cotton drawstring pouch or a reusable compostable waterproof bag (for swimwear), and the deliveries are sent in envelopes-boxes that are 100 percent compostable or biodegradable. All the paper-cardboard used is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, meaning the wood is harvested from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

Carbon Neutral

Ecommerce deliveries undoubtedly have a carbon footprint. This is why we back innovative cutting-edge businesses that purge carbon from the atmosphere. Together, member companies have shipped millions of orders carbon-neutrally and taken thousands of tonnes of carbon out of the atmosphere. A formula is used to determine the expected shipping emissions for each purchase we receive. Based on those projections, a percentage of our earnings is distributed to carbon removal businesses that have passed scrutiny by Carbon Direct experts. The money is used by those businesses to offset however much carbon our shipments produced.

Giving back

We are committed to donating part of our profits to eligible children charities and orphanages in UAE, or any emergency cause world-wide supporting children in need. Currently, we are working on selecting eligible institutions to support. Learn more about Donations Made.
